LETTER FROM THE CHAIR OF GOVERNORS

Welcome
My name is Maxine and I am the chair of Governors at Westfield Nursery School.
On behalf of the Governing Body I would like to thank you for visiting our website.
At Westfield Nursery School, we have a small Governing Body made up from a range of people including staff, members of the community and parents.
Our children are happy and enthusiastic and our staff are committed and caring. We aim to develop happy, considerate, independent and self-confident children and to inspire them to discover that learning is fascinating, meaningful and fun. Stepping through the school gate, a visitor will be struck immediately by the feeling of warmth and strength of purpose, and how content and happy the children are. It is clearly a place where children feel a sense of belonging and love of learning.
We are justifiably very proud of the children in our school. In addition, this is an opportunity for me to thank all the parents who encourage and support their children so admirably. In a school, such as ours, parents take a great interest in their child’s learning and development. During the early years of education, academic, personal, social and creative skills are nurtured and developed.
Governors are appointed to ensure that objectives are met and that planning for the future is both visionary and realistic. We are here to support and encourage our Head teacher, and all school personnel so that children have access to an enriched education and the opportunities they deserve.
The School Development Plan details our aims and objectives for the ongoing development of the School.
Should you wish to contact me to discuss any matter please do so by emailing me governors@westfieldnurseryschool.org or you can always drop into the school and leave a message at reception. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible throughout the year.
Yours sincerely
Ms M Boyle - Chair of Governors

GOVERNOR VACANCY- CAN YOU HELP?
Anyone can play a vital role in the management of the nursery by becoming a school governor. No qualifications are needed, simply an interest in education.
If you are interested, please talk to the Head Teacher or any other member of staff for further information. Membership of the governing body is reviewed every four years. Every parent/ carer is eligible to become a parent governor by election when a vacancy occurs.
Meetings are held once a term for governors to act as a critical friend and oversee the running of the school. Any governor may be contacted through the school office.
