TIPS FOR STARTING NURSERY
Dress your child in clothes with easy fastenings so they can be independent.
For example:-
-separate vest and pants
-trainers with Velcro
-joggers not tight jeans.
Your child will be better able to dress and undress themselves when visiting the toilet.

Teach your child how to wash their hands correctly.
At Nursery we:
-pull up our sleeves
-put the plug in the sink
-put some water into the sink (but not too much!)
-use some soap and wash our hands
-rinse our hands in the sink
-pull out the plug to drain the water away
-dry hands.

Encourage your child to sit down when eating and drinking.
Use an open topped cup for drinking and ensure your child can feed themselves.
Encourage your child to tidy away their own toys into specific places at home to get them ready for 'tidy up time' at Nursery.
Allow opportunities for your child to be looked after by someone else (give yourself some time!) this will help your child get used to separating from you.
Have quiet times at home when the television, radio and music are switched off to encourage conversation.
