NEW STARTERS TRANSITIONS

It is a good idea to prepare your child for Nursery so their transition into education is a smooth one.
When possible we invite parents/ carers to a new starter meeting where we share key information about the Nursery, each child can visit their class and meet the staff. This meeting has been held virtually and the presentation can be viewed below.
We also invite parents/ carers to transition events where we discuss the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, speech and language, behaviour, toileting and any other topic which may be causing a parent any concern.
Where possible staff complete a home visit where they meet each child in their home. We believe home visits support better relationships with adults and children and allow staff to know each child more quickly. They also show children that staff are trusted adults. Parents/ carers can also ask questions in the security of their own home. This is currently being conducted by phone or on site.
Once preparations are complete, children start Nursery during settling in week. Most children come with their parent/ carer for 1 hour on the first day, for one hour without a grown up on the second day, for an hour and a half on day two, for two hours on day three, for two and a half hours on day four and for three hours on day five- a full session. We are very flexible and some children may take longer to settle.
